Germantown adopts alcohol-code amendments easing permit rules and aligning sales hours

The board adopted Ordinance 25-10 on third and final reading after a brief presentation by the city attorney. The attorney summarized the main revisions: permit-publication requirements will be satisfied via the city website rather than newspapers; background-check procedures are revised to be less onerous for larger companies and the city; lease copies will be required for certain beer applications; a hold-harmless provision for temporary permits was added; and liquor and wine sales hours were aligned with state law. The ordinance also removes a 'U.S. citizen 1-year' clause from the code.
Alderman Sanders moved to approve the ordinance on third reading and Vice Mayor Gibson seconded the motion. The roll call returned affirmative votes from aldermen present and the mayor said the third and final reading was concluded.
