Council okays $20,325 contract for Haven Park tennis court windscreens

The Mesquite City Council approved awarding Runner Sports Services $20,325 to supply and install windscreens around the Haven Park tennis courts.
Randy (parks staff) said staff collected three bids and recommended Runner Sports Services at $20,325. Carl Johnson of the Mesquite Tennis Club urged the council to replace windscreens and to address ongoing debris on the courts; he described 48 active club members and recurring maintenance problems.
Councilwoman Fielding moved to award Runner Sports Services the $20,325 contract; Councilman Parrish seconded and the motion passed without further amendment. Staff said the parks fund would cover the purchase.
Council members and the speaker thanked volunteers and players and noted the city will take steps to address maintenance concerns.
