Mayor Travis reported updates to striping, signage and pavement markings at the Oasis Boulevard roundabouts designed to reduce crashes. He said new painted markings direct drivers in the outside lane to exit at the next exit (Ivy Lee Crest) rather than continue around the roundabout, while the inside lane retains the ability to make the longer turn.
"So as you go up there now, you will see painted markings on the road and the big change is if you are in the outside lane, you are to exit the next exit that you come to," the mayor said, explaining the intent is to minimize crashes caused when outside-lane drivers continue around while inside-lane drivers also intend to exit.
The mayor said the city has received positive feedback so far and staff will continue to monitor the locations to determine if further changes are needed.
