County approves road-department purchases — bottom-dump trailer and day-cab tractor

The Lincoln County Board of Commissioners authorized two purchases for the county Department of Roads.
Highway Superintendent Jason Schultz recommended replacing an aging belly-dump trailer with a Trail King bottom-dump trailer available from NMC/Nebraska Machinery; the net price after trade was $63,400. Schultz said the trailer is on hand and could arrive within the week.
The board also approved buying a day-cab tractor (a 2027 Freightliner 114SD) through the Sourcewell cooperative contract from Floyd's Truck Center for a final customer price of $138,987. Commissioners discussed warranties and configuration (standard level warranty and Detroit engine), and staff noted this price was below the budgeted amount and that delivery could slip into June.
Both motions passed on roll call. Staff will coordinate trade-in logistics and schedule delivery and service prep.
Representative quote: "This one's on the ground ready. We could probably have it by maybe the end of the week," Highway Superintendent Jason Schultz said of the trailer-ready unit.
