The Sebring Community Redevelopment Agency discussed the status of the Makeup America building project on March 23, with the board saying it is working to determine whether additional funding can be secured before committing to the developer's request.
The chair reported that a committee met with Marty Wall and Will Swain from the Hall of Fame and is "in the process of trying to see if there is additional funding that we might be able to access" for the project. He said the committee is "a little uncomfortable with the amount of money that's being asked from the developer."
The chair said the city has indicated it would most likely contribute and the county has "made an indication" it could too. The board listed its next steps as seeking a firmer commitment from the county and then meeting again with the developer if additional funds are available.
Board members and staff did not vote on any funding at the meeting; the discussion closed with the board directing staff to pursue county and other funding options and return with additional information.
