The City Council voted 4-1 on March 3 to deploy FIFA-provided street-pole banners welcoming World Cup teams and fans and to permit post-event sale of the banners to offset city costs. The approved deployment was the most comprehensive option the subcommittee recommended (Tier 4), roughly 100 to 120 banners covering priority corridors and selected parks.
