Senator Westrich (Senator from Wafula) introduced legislation proposed by IPERS that includes three modernization provisions: allowing IPERS to release the legal name and last-known address of a member or beneficiary to the state treasurer to assist in locating the individual (for purposes such as unclaimed property outreach), removing a requirement that annual benefit statements be distributed between January and July in favor of flexible incremental distribution, and permitting retired members to receive monthly payments via reloadable payment cards while retaining checks as an option.
