The Maple Valley City Council on Nov. 24 approved Ordinance No. O-25-871, an interim modification to section 11.01.030 of the Maple Valley Municipal Code addressing appointments, background checks and terms.
Deputy Mayor Dana Parnello introduced the ordinance and City Attorney Patricia Taraday presented the legal framing. The motion to adopt was approved 4-2; Councilmembers Syd Dawson and Didem Pierson cast the dissenting votes.
The minutes record the council’s vote and the ordinance title but do not include the ordinance text or detailed debate points. Council added this item to continued business earlier in the meeting prior to adoption.
Because the change is recorded as an interim modification, staff and the City Attorney’s office will carry out the ordinance’s implementation and any required follow-up, including returning to council if additional direction or non-interim changes are needed.
