The council also approved assessing mowing costs to two properties (422 South Main and 1203 Benton Ave East) at $300 each to be collected as property tax (Kelly moved; Mobley seconded; motion carried 4-0). The council approved disposal of unneeded equipment at the sewer plant (Mobley moved; Conley seconded; motion carried 4-0) and referred an alley-closing request to the Planning & Zoning Commission for recommendation (Mobley moved; Kelly seconded; motion carried 4-0).
The mayor announced reappointments: Loren Pence to the Albia Housing Board and John Freshwater to the Board of Adjustment. Council discussed the possibility of adding a City Manager position and agreed to conduct further research; Regenold and Conley indicated they would contact other cities for information.
