Porter County recycling board elects officers and approves Citizens Advisory Committee slate

At its March 18 meeting the Porter County Recycling & Reduction District elected a new chair and vice chair and approved a slate of Citizens Advisory Committee appointments, including Nicole Docter. The board also approved routine minutes and financial statements.
The Porter County Recycling & Reduction District elected Barb Regnitz as chair and Jim Tann as vice chair at a joint board and Citizens Advisory Committee meeting on March 18, 2026.
The board confirmed the leadership nominations by voice vote after a nomination from Council member Sims. The meeting briefly lacked a quorum until Commissioner Ed Morales arrived; once the board had a quorum it proceeded with reorganizational votes.
The board also approved a slate of Citizens Advisory Committee appointments recommended by members of the board. The newly appointed CAC member Nicole Docter, who said she filled out the district application after receiving an email from Commissioner Morales, told the meeting she has lived in Porter County for about 30 years and is “very interested in the environment, recycling” and community service.
In addition to the personnel votes, the board approved routine items: minutes from the Dec. 11 meeting and financial statements for 12/31/2025, 01/31/2026 (corrected date) and 02/28/2026. Board members resolved a minor date typo during the financials discussion but approved each set of statements by voice vote.
The board chair noted the Citizens Advisory Committee serves as an extension of the district by performing background research and offering recommendations that elected officials and staff can evaluate.
The board set its next (board-only) meeting for May 14, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. and adjourned the joint meeting.
