Council member seeks wording change on Safe Streets grant resolution to match program language
A council member asked staff to align a Safe Streets for All grant resolution with the grant application language, proposing the resolution commit to "significantly reduce or eliminate roadway fatalities and serious injuries by 2040" rather than an unconditional zero-fatalities pledge; staff agreed to make the technical edits and correct a spelling error so the resolution can be voted on later that night.

During review of the Safe Streets for All resolution, a council member raised concerns about adopting absolute "zero fatalities" language that did not match the phrasing in the grant application. The member recommended changing the resolution text so it states the city has "embarked on a Vision 0 planning process and has adopted the goal of significantly reducing, or, eliminating roadway fatalities and serious injuries by 2040." The member also pointed out a spelling error in the draft resolution title.
