The Altoona City Council adopted a resolution authorizing an amendment to the intergovernmental 28E agreement with the Greater Des Moines Convention & Visitors Bureau at its May 5 meeting.
City Administrator Randy Pierce said the packet included the amended 28E agreement and that the "major change is lowering the percentage that the city pays to the CVB." The change was presented as an update to the city's ongoing participation in the regional tourism and convention promotion arrangement under Iowa Code chapter 28E.
Council recorded the action by roll-call vote that was recorded as unanimous (5-0). No additional funding amounts or effective dates were discussed at the meeting; the amendment was adopted on the condition the final agreement text matched the packet materials and legal review.
The amendment will alter how much the City of Altoona contributes to regional CVB promotion going forward; staff will work with legal counsel to finalize and implement the updated agreement.
