Brookfield swears in new sergeant and new officer at July 28 meeting

Mark McEwen was promoted to the office of police sergeant and took the oath of office in front of family and the board. The police chief described McEwen as "a dedicated and respected member of our department for over 20 years," noted McEwen's experience as a field-training officer and task-force member, and said McEwen had been a leader within the department before this formal promotion. McEwen introduced members of his family — his wife Chrissy, daughters Mackenzie and Madeline, sister-in-law Kelly and mother-in-law Patricia — who joined him onstage.
The board also swore in Ramon Pantoja Jr. as a non-probationary police officer. The chief told the board Pantoja grew up in Joliet and served six years in the U.S. Army (four active, two reserve), citing his work ethic and character as assets to the department.
Both ceremonies included brief remarks of appreciation from trustees and an opportunity for family photographs. The Chair thanked police and fire personnel for attending and congratulated the newly sworn officers.
