City planning staff told the Satellite Beach Planning and Advisory Board that a proposed code amendment would simplify and shorten the process to vacate public streets, alleys, canals and easements for limited, permanent encroachments. Staff said the revision would allow some cases to go straight to city council rather than to the Planning and Advisory Board, and would reduce applicant expense and administrative steps (staff cited prior application costs of roughly $1,000 for mailings and certifications).
