Suffield BOE committee drafting AI guidelines after board adopts policy
The district’s AI committee is developing implementation guidelines, teacher resources and professional development after the board adopted an AI policy; pilots next year may use free versions of Gemini and Magic School, and the board asked about developmental appropriateness and parent engagement.

District staff updated the Board of Education on May 19 that the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Committee is moving from policy to implementation. Rebecca Osleger, joined by Suffield High School Assistant Principal Shannon Insero and Grade 3 teacher Lisa LaForte, said the committee is drafting guidelines to govern the district’s use of AI and will recommend teacher resources and professional development. The presentation said some teachers may pilot AI tools next year, including free versions of Gemini and Magic School.
