Planning commission splits solar and battery projects, approves Jackson Ranch signage changes

Chuck Kenny, director of the Community Development Agency, reported to the Board of Supervisors that the Planning Commission heard four items and approved three actions on the consent calendar at its recent meeting.
Kenny said the commission reviewed an update on the Thomas Brothers composting conditional use permit and approved two conditional use permits that split a prior solar‑plus‑battery approval into separate projects (battery storage and solar) for a site at 24924 Nevada Avenue outside Stratford. "Both of those projects did not receive any public comment and were both unanimously approved five‑zero," Kenny said.
The commission also unanimously approved a general plan amendment to the Jackson Ranch specific plan to increase the number of allowed monument signs from two to three and to modify size and pylon and building sign requirements.
The board formally received the planning commission report and moved to accept the reporting‑out; the clerk recorded affirmative roll‑call votes for the board to receive the report.
