The Des Moines County Board of Supervisors on March 31 approved a resolution setting a public hearing on the FY27 budget for 9 a.m. Tuesday, April 21, 2026, in the board room at the Des Moines County Courthouse and directed the Budget Director to publish the required notice and summary.
The board also approved routine claims and regulatory items: a payroll reimbursement claim for $772.80, a liquor license ownership update for a Burlington business, and a Class C liquor license for Fat Annie’s. In addition, the board adopted proclamations recognizing Sexual Assault Awareness Month and Child Abuse Prevention Month after a representative from DVIP spoke in support of the sexual-assault awareness proclamation. All motions were approved at the meeting by unanimous vote.
County Treasurer Janelle Nalley-Londquist reminded residents that March 31 is the final day to pay the second half of 2024 property taxes, and described in-person, drop-box and online payment options as well as the need to have a post office stamp for mailed payments to confirm the March 31 date.
The board’s approval of Resolution #2026-020 sets the FY27 budget hearing procedure and timeline; the board will receive public comment at the April 21 hearing as required by law. The board adjourned the regular session at 10:39 a.m.
