Boone County accepts audit documents and approves weed program’s state review

ALBION, Neb. — In routine fiscal and program oversight actions March 16, the Boone County Board of Commissioners accepted audit-related documents and approved the county weed program’s state review report.
The board reviewed the management representation letter and draft financial statements prepared by MDT, LLC for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2025. Commissioners voted unanimously to accept the documents and authorized the County Clerk and County Treasurer to sign the representation letter and financial statements.
Margaret Valladao, the county’s Weed Superintendent, presented the Nebraska Department of Agriculture’s end-of-year report card for 2025. The county passed the review and received perfect scores; the board approved the report and authorized the chairman to sign.
Delmer Pelster and Shelley Lueken of the Boone County Raceway attended the meeting to discuss racetrack facilities, lease arrangements with the Agricultural Society and possible future agreements; the board took no formal action on the racetrack during the session.
What’s next: The clerk and treasurer will sign audit documents as authorized; no further board action on the racetrack was recorded.
