Organizers mark completion of Union Silos public art, announce signage, MSU exhibit and August celebration

Organizers of the Union Silos public art project updated the Minot City Council on March 16, saying work completed in 2025 and thanking donors and community partners for financial and in‑kind support.
Tim Baumann, who identified himself as one of the community builders for the Union Silos Public Art Project, said organizers raised more than $350,000 in donations and in‑kind gifts to cover project expenses and noted the project is privately funded aside from a $4,000 grant. He named lead contributors and partners who assisted from inception through completion, including Visit Minot, the Minot Area Council of the Arts and property owner Derek Hackett.
Baumann said the project team is working with Visit Minot to create interpretive signage explaining the site’s history and the artwork, and that a Minot State University display and a photo book featuring the artist’s work and student photography are planned. He invited the community to a free celebration at Citizens Alley on Friday, August 28.
Council thanked the organizers; no council action was required or taken on the report.
