Commission approves $397,868 elevator modernization at county complex

The Laramie County Board of Commissioners voted Feb. 17 to award a $397,868.43 contract to TK Elevator Corporation to modernize three main public elevators at the Laramie County Governmental Complex, 309 West 20th Street.
Jason (staff) told the commissioners that discontinued or unavailable parts for equipment more than 30 years old prompted an RFP in October and the selection of TKE to supply controllers, power units, pumps, wiring, door operators and other components. ‘‘So everything being done in conjunction with the update on the fire panel as well ... that’s gonna bring us all up to 2019 code,’’ Jason said.
Commissioners confirmed funding will come from O&M funds approved previously for courthouse work and then approved the contract by roll call. The project is intended to modernize core public elevators used frequently by visitors and staff; the county did not announce a construction start date in the meeting record.
