Sen. Reyes seeks to enshrine remote services option for Californians with IDD
SB 969 would codify COVID-era remote service options for Californians with intellectual and developmental disabilities, directing the Department of Developmental Services to create guidelines and communication so families can choose remote supports without mandating their use.

Senator Maria Elena Reyes presented SB 969 on the Senate Human Services Committee floor, saying the bill "simply codifies the option for remote service delivery" so that Californians with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) can continue to access day programs, independent living services and behavioral therapy remotely after the current emergency authority expires on Dec. 31, 2026.
