Kittitas County commissioners approve equipment purchase, multiple change orders and a grounds contract

Kittitas County commissioners approved several procurement and construction items during a Feb. 10, 2026 meeting of the county’s Solid Waste and Maintenance group, voting unanimously (3-0) on each item.
Commissioner Brett Wachsmith moved and Commissioner Laura Osiadacz seconded approval for the county director to sign a purchase order with Midwest Bio-systems for a compost turner that works with the department’s existing tractor; the motion passed 3-0. Patti Stacey presented the purchase request.
The board also approved Change Order #13 for the New Transfer Station after Patti reviewed included proposals; the motion passed 3-0. For the Rodeo Arena seating project the board approved a corrected Change Order #3 (the correction fixed a previous mathematical error) and then approved Change Order #4. During the Change Order #4 discussion, members noted LTAC and additional funding items: $500,000 from the City of Ellensburg and $100,000 from the Rodeo Board were identified as additional funding sources. Both Rodeo change orders passed 3-0.
Finally, the board approved a Professional Services Agreement with Rimrock Landscapes, the contractor that maintains the City of Ellensburg grounds; staff said renewing the contract will free county maintenance crews to focus on building maintenance. Commissioner Wachsmith moved approval and Commissioner Osiadacz seconded; the motion passed 3-0.
