The county’s capital reserves and the crowded condition of current offices — including constrained public defender space and a building the county described as unusable — were cited as reasons to accelerate planning. Commissioners discussed previous architecture expenditures and agreed more planning dollars were warranted to avoid costly decisions later.
The motion to accept the study proposal carried; staff and the architects will return with refined options and cost estimates for commissioner review.
