Elko County approves purchase of two additional ImageCast precinct tabulators

Elko County Clerk Rebecca Plunk asked the Board of Commissioners on April 1 to approve a third amendment to the county’s agreement with Liberty Voting Systems to add two ImageCast precinct tabulators, licensing and warranties.
Plunk said the two additional tabulators are intended for West Wendover and Carlin; two ImageCast tabulators purchased last year will be deployed in Elko and Spring Creek for early voting. The Clerk explained that the county also purchased ballot‑marking devices last year; those devices print a paper ballot that is then scanned and counted by the tabulator.
Plunk said funds for the two tabulators will come from the Clerk’s Technology Fund and that the Nevada Secretary of State’s Office already reimburses Elko County for licensing and might reimburse the additional tabulators.
A commissioner moved to approve the third amendment and the board voted in favor by voice; commissioners recorded aye votes and the amendment passed.
The action expands Elko County’s capacity to process paper ballots produced by ballot‑marking devices in the upcoming primary election.
