Trustees approve multiple modernization projects, change orders and EV/solar updates

At its Oct. 14 meeting, the Los Banos Unified School District board approved a package of construction change orders and received detailed schedule updates for modernization projects across the district.
Facilities lead Miss Monday reviewed progress on major projects and recommended approvals. Key updates: Bolton modernization parking asphalt is scheduled for Oct. 17 with striping Oct. 18; the admin building’s completion was revised to Dec. 12 due to long lead times on metal doors; the Early Education Center is expected to be complete by Nov. 11; and the junior high fire-alarm project is on track for January 2026 completion. Permission to operate solar installations is expected in December, and work on seven fast chargers for buses will begin Oct. 27.
The board approved multiple change orders (credits and additions) for Los Banos High School, Pacheco High School CTE classroom projects, Volta Elementary School modernization, and the Early Education Center. One credit change order for Las Pampers/Los Banos High School was described as a $248,000 credit, though staff noted some of that amount will be reallocated to other scopes in future forms.
Miss Monday said the Los Banos High modernization remains in the bidding phase with the revised bid date of Nov. 13; PHS new artificial turf is in schematic design with a construction window targeted June–Sept. 2026. She also noted an Miano restroom project bid opening on Oct. 16 with a tentative award in November and a 90-day construction window after the award.
Board members approved the change orders and related motions unanimously. Trustees asked for clarifications on change-order line items and were told staff will return with additional documentation if needed.
Next steps: Bid awards and contract documents will be tracked at future meetings; staff will provide final change-order accounting to the board.
