The City Commission approved several formal actions during its April 14 meeting.
Consent and capital project action: The commission authorized change order 5 for the Pump Station 1 rehabilitation project with TLC Diversified Inc. in the amount of $395,096.67. Public services director Camden Mills said the total project budget is $6,250,000; $4.1 million has been encumbered to date and, after the pending change orders, about $1.7 million of the original budget would remain. Mills said the bulk of construction should be substantially complete in July, with final completion after delivery and installation of a backup generator expected in October—November.
Ordinance and resolution votes: The commission adopted Ordinance 2026-08, updating the police officers— retirement share plan allocation method; finance director Devin Schmidt told the body the change uses excess premium tax revenue only and has no impact on city general funds. The commission also adopted Resolution 2026-09, consolidating permit and meter parking fees into a single schedule; staff said there were no rate changes from earlier actions.
Appointments and leadership: The commission elected a vice mayor for a one-year term by roll-call vote and approved a slate of appointments to outside agencies (Big C, Florida League of Cities, MCPC, Pinellas County Flood Insurance Committee, Suncoast League of Cities, Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council and PTSA) as presented.
Votes: Most formal motions were approved by unanimous roll-call votes as recorded by the city clerk. The updated agenda, the amended consent agenda, item E (conversion of limited-term permit positions), item G (pump station change order), Ordinance 2026-08, Resolution 2026-09 and the appointments motion carried on affirmative roll calls; commissioners recorded in the roll call as voting affirmatively included the vice mayor, commissioners and the mayor.
