Summary
Contractors have started paving the South Tiger River Trail in Greer and the stadium parking lot was repaved with focused drainage improvements; drivers should expect a temporary detour at the Duke Street CSX crossing, which is due to reopen Thursday at 5 p.m.
Joel Eaves, reporter, said contractors have begun paving the new South Tiger River Trail and that "if the weather cooperates, the trail should be open in mid to late summer." The report warned residents to "please stay clear of the work zone beginning at Country Club Park" because "it's an active construction site and is not safe for recreation."
Crews also finished repaving the Greer City Stadium parking lot. Contractors targeted areas that have historically held water to reduce drainage problems, Eaves said. City Stadium continues to host youth football, cheerleading, youth soccer and archery activities, making the parking and drainage work relevant to families and organizers who use the facility.
Public services staff on Friday worked on landscaping around a repaving project on Stoke Street, planting grass seed between the asphalt and the adjacent natural surface to create a smoother transition around the parking area.
Traffic patterns are also affected this week: drivers must detour around a CSX railroad crossing on Duke Street behind Greer CPW, and "the railroad says the crossing should reopen by Thursday at 5PM," Eaves said. He added that Greer View will continue to provide updates as conditions change.
