The Altoona City Council re-approved a preliminary plat for the Brook Ridge development on Aug. 5 after Community Development staff told the council the resubmitted plat complies with the Brook Ridge R-5 planned-unit development and does not require variances.
Community Development Director John Shaw said Stubbs Development resubmitted the plat and that, per city code, plats must be re-approved if more than 180 days have passed since prior approval. Councilperson Evans asked how many lots would need a variance; Shaw replied the lot sizes comply with the development plan and would not need variances. The council approved re-approval on a split roll call vote, with two members recorded as voting no (Evans and Stewart) and three voting yes.
The 3-2 vote advances the plat toward final approvals; the council did not specify conditions or required changes in the meeting record beyond the staff explanation that the plat complies with existing PUD standards.
