EPIC’s board approved temporary enrollment caps to manage an unusual spring influx of students during state testing and received an update on the Pathways program for older learners.
Staff said the data team recommended setting a temporary capacity at 26,632 students while testing season continues; caps will be removed after the testing window (staff estimated testing ends about the second week of May). Board members discussed sibling and pathway considerations and agreed to revisit numbers as data change.
Mr. Hunt reported Pathways has served 1,695 students this school year, with 1,127 currently enrolled and 568 students transferred out for reasons including choosing GED alternatives or not meeting attendance requirements. He said Pathways students completed 3,212 classes and that 81 students had met credit requirements toward graduation at the time of his presentation. Hunt noted recent legislative changes expanded eligibility to older age ranges (up to about age 30) and that reengagement strategies are needed for students who withdrew.
The board approved the temporary enrollment caps by motion and roll call.
