Summary
At its regular meeting, the Tempe City Council approved multiple construction and service contracts, advanced and adopted several zoning and code ordinances, continued one land-use item to June and introduced bond/refunding ordinances for later votes.
The Tempe City Council on the evening of the meeting approved a slate of contracts and adopted multiple land-use and code measures while scheduling additional hearings for bond and refunding ordinances.
The council voted to approve the minutes and accept board and commission minutes, and then approved the consent agenda. Councilmembers approved a construction contract with Mid America Golf & Landscape Inc. for irrigation replacement at Ken McDonald Golf Course (project 6311491); they also approved a job order to TF Contracting Services LLC for wastewater collection system rehabilitation (project 3221124) and addenda extending multiple paving master job order contracts through 2025. Those nonconsent items were moved and passed by recorded voice votes announced by the mayor.
On zoning and code matters, the council held a first hearing on a zoning map amendment for Lux Holdings (3910 S. Rural Road) and set a second and final hearing for 04/30/2026. Council continued item 8C1 to the June 4, 2026 meeting, with a motion noting no further continuances absent extraordinary cause. The council also held second and final hearings and approved an overlay for the Novus Parcel (an ASU athletic facilities district planning-area overlay), amended the city code governing member selection for an unspecified panel, and adopted ordinances approving partial alley and easement abandonments for properties including 108 E. 7th Street and 2152 E. Wildermuth Avenue.
The council opened, then closed, public testimony for several items where no speakers came forward. City staff said the second and final hearings for the bond and excise tax refunding items are scheduled for the April 30 meeting.
The meeting adjourned at 7:07 p.m.; the next regular meeting is scheduled for 04/30/2026.
