Summary
At a April 14 special meeting the Morrison County Board of Management approved an amended gambling-permit resolution after county staff said the original paperwork used the word 'raffle' instead of 'full tabs.' The State of Minnesota requested amended minutes; the board approved the corrected resolution by voice vote.
The Morrison County Board of Management voted April 14 to reapprove an amended resolution correcting wording in a gambling-permit application after county staff said the state flagged the discrepancy.
County staff told the board the permit paperwork submitted from the county office had used the word “raffle” when it should have said “full tabs,” and that the State of Minnesota requested amended minutes and reapproval. “We just have a correction on a resolution for a gambling permit,” the staff member said. “The gambling permit that we had put together in my office put together, we had the word raffle in it and it should have been full tabs.”
The correction related to an event the staff member described in the record as “this Bridal.” The staff member said the state caught the error while processing the application and asked the county to amend the minutes and reapprove the resolution.
Commissioner Wintour made the motion to amend the resolution; Commissioner Casper seconded the motion. With no discussion, the chair called for a voice vote. Members responded “aye,” and the chair declared the resolution passed.
After the vote the staff member thanked the board and the chair adjourned the special meeting at 08:34; the board then began its scheduled planning session on health and human services.
