Lamar County Board approves $135.2 million budget for 2025–26

The Lamar County Board of Education voted unanimously July 15 to adopt the district's 2025–26 budget, approving revenue and expenditure schedules and associated budget documents presented at the meeting. The motion to approve the budget was made by School Board Member Jeremy Chance and seconded by Shae Farmer.

Adoption of the plan followed presentation of detailed line-item schedules and supporting exhibits showing total revenues and expenditures for the year. The district-record budget materials attached to the meeting record show combined total revenues and expenditures across local, state and federal funds. The board also approved the May 2025 monthly financial report by unanimous voice vote earlier in the meeting.

Why it matters: The budget sets district spending priorities for staffing, facilities and student services for the coming school year. Board members did not place conditions on the approval; the budget and supporting schedules were accepted as presented.
