The commission introduced and welcomed Susanna Rodriguez as a new commissioner. Rodriguez said she is a native Iowa Indian citizen who grew up in the area, spent about 10 years living in Chicago working in theater and hospitality, and returned to Iowa City in 2021. "So my name is Susanna Rodriguez. I'm a native Iowa Indian citizen," she said, adding that she teaches yoga locally and has experience organizing with LGBTQ groups.
