Budget committee approves procurement recommendations, indigent burial disbursement and phone‑system migration

The Budget & Finance Committee moved several administrative recommendations during the meeting.

Road department staff recommended accepting bids for winter coal mix, bituminous materials, concrete, crushed stone and salt. Squire Barnard moved the recommendation and Squire Carl seconded; the committee recorded ayes and the motion carried. The recommendation will be forwarded to the full fiscal court for approval.

The committee also voted to recommend rebidding road fluids and fuel after the road supervisor recommended rebidding those procurement lines; Squire Taylor moved and Squire Carl seconded, and the motion carried.

On a separate agenda item, the committee recommended disbursing $750 from the indigent burial fund to cover cremation for the party identified in the request. The motion was moved by Squire Varner and seconded by Squire Carl; the committee recorded ayes and approved the recommendation.

Director Drew Chandler presented a proposal to migrate the county’s hosted VoIP phone system to RingCentral (through Alta Fiber) and said the county could realize annual savings of $2,773.80 and receive a three‑month service credit to facilitate transition. "The annual savings is, $2,773.80," Chandler said. The committee voted to recommend the migration; the recommendation will proceed to the full fiscal court.

All four recommendations were forwarded as committee recommendations to the full fiscal court; the committee did not publish roll-call vote tallies naming each magistrate in the minutes aside from recorded verbal "ayes," and each motion was recorded as carrying.
