Summary
City staff presented updates on multiple projects — Freeman Toyota site work, church rebuilding and expansion, CTI building, drainage and road work at Keller/Haslet Road and North Main, and ongoing fire station construction — and noted public meetings tied to the master land-use and strategic plan reviews.
City staff gave a multi-project development update at the Haslet HCEDC meeting April 15, highlighting private and public construction, roadwork that alters traffic flow, and plans to review long-term land-use and strategic plans.
Mister Swanky briefed the board on several private developments including site work at Freeman Toyota and construction of the Cross City North churches. He noted that Grama Point church — which previously suffered fire damage — is expanding and repairing interior elements. Work continues on a CTI building, where concrete has been poured and a landscaped planning area will screen a tank, and a separate area where a generator is being installed.
Swanky described ongoing public projects: the new fire station is progressing and changes daily, drainage and driveway work on Schreiber Drive is under way, and the TRA/city waste line project is advancing near the CTI parking lot. He also explained a traffic reconfiguration at Keller/Haslet Road and North Main that uses center dividers to prevent left turns (eastbound drivers are routed to Route 156), changing traffic patterns at that intersection.
Staff said the city will begin a multi‑month process to revisit the strategic plan and master land-use plan, working with stakeholders including Hillwood and the City of Fort Worth, and that public meetings will be scheduled beginning in May. No formal actions or approvals were taken on the construction projects during the meeting; updates were informational.
