The Walker County Commission met March 2 in Jasper and approved a set of routine and project items, including a state transportation letter agreement, an equipment transfer to a volunteer rescue group, a website accessibility contract and personnel actions. County Administrator Amy Frederickson opened staff reports with details about upcoming employee health screenings: "I've got two items; first is the health screenings. They are scheduled for Monday, March 30th and Tuesday, March 31st," she said, and provided locations and times for different employee groups, urging staff participation to help maintain favorable insurance rates. Frederickson also noted completion of the Walker County America 250 Plan and said staff are contacting municipal mayors to encourage participation.
County Engineer Glenn Peek reported local road work: "We've just finished resurfacing the section of Sharon Boulevard that was a Rebuild Project. We're still waiting on the permanent striping to be done. We're also working on future road and bridge projects at this time," he said.

Stephens, Jr. presented a March 2, 2026 opinion citing Ala. Code § 36-25A-7(a)(5) as the legal basis for executive session. The commission did not reconvene on the record that day.
