The Elkhart Community Schools board on April 21 approved a First Amendment to the Elkhart Aquatics Center agreement and voted to waive second reading for several contracts the administration presented for initial consideration.
Mr. Thorne explained the amendment and introduced Pete McGowan of the Community Foundation, who thanked district partners and highlighted the center’s role hosting regional high-school and small-college swimming and diving championships. "We are delighted to be partners with both Beacon and Elkhart Community Schools," McGowan said, noting that state high-school championships travel to the facility from neighboring states.
After discussion, the board approved the First Amendment to the aquatics agreement by unanimous voice vote. The administration also presented seven contracts for initial consideration and requested waiver of second reading for Integrated Technology LLC, Qualtrics, Elkhart County Youth for Christ (DBA Lifeline), 5 Star Life and Education Advancement, Inc.; the board voted 7–0 to waive second reading and accept the listed contracts as presented.
The administration asked board members to direct any follow-up questions on the initial-consideration contracts to Mr. Thorne ahead of the items’ next appearance on the agenda.
