The Sanilac County Board of Commissioners approved a slate of procurement and budget items at its April 7 meeting, including vehicle purchases, vendor contracts and multiple budget amendments.
The board awarded Berger Chevrolet, Inc. the bid to purchase two 2026 Chevrolet Tahoe 9C1 police-package vehicles at $53,893 each, for a total not to exceed $107,786, with funding from the Police Vehicle Fund (FA-059-26). The motion was moved by Commissioner Bill Sarkella and seconded by Commissioner Gary Heberling; the motion carried.
The board also authorized a three-year agreement with MAC Assessing Services, LLC for agricultural appraisal services at costs of $52,865 (2027), $53,350 (2028) and $53,835 (2029) for a total not to exceed $160,050, funded from the Equalization budget (FA-056-26). The Broadcom software license renewal was approved for payment not to exceed $22,608.96 from the Information/Technology budget (FA-057-26).
The board awarded the Peck demolition project to SA Torello at a cost not to exceed $62,000, to be funded through the County Land Bank budget and reimbursed by a State Land Bank grant (FA-058-26). The board also authorized up to $8,500 from the Drug Task Force education/training line to support the Tall Cop—High In Plain Sight training community event at Marlette High School on Aug. 24, 2026 (FA-055-26).
As part of FA-054-26 the board approved several budget amendments and account establishments that included a $59,994 reimbursement and a corresponding $59,994 transfer out to the Police Vehicle Fund; an internal reallocation moving $10,930 from wages to miscellaneous expense for an intern program; and a $26,000 reallocation within a fund for temporary wages offset by contingency. The claims payment FA-053-26 for $108,016.08 was also approved.
