The board awarded a three-year contract to Hyper-Reach for mass notification services at $9,500 per year to be funded from the 9-1-1 millage (moved by Commissioner Sarkella; seconded by Commissioner Gary Heberling). The motion carried.
Also approved was a commercial and industrial appraisal study contract with Jeannie Diaz at $102.50 per parcel, funded from the Equalization budget; the board authorized the chair to sign the agreement (moved by Commissioner Sarkella; seconded by Commissioner Lee). The motion carried.
The Recycling Center Coordinator was authorized to purchase three shipments of 22 baskets each from Davis Metal & Plastics at $285 per basket, not to exceed $18,810 in total, with funding from the Multi-County Material Management Grant (moved by Commissioner Sarkella; seconded by Commissioner Lee). The motion carried.
The board approved a Letter of Understanding between Sanilac County and POLC Command to clarify final average compensation language within the union contract and authorized the chairman to sign the document (moved by Commissioner Sarkella; seconded by Commissioner Lee). The motion carried.
The county awarded the demolition contract for 69 Lexington Street in Sandusky to SA TORELLO at a cost not to exceed $38,368, to be funded through the County Land Bank budget and reimbursed by a State Land Bank Grant (moved by Commissioner Sarkella; seconded by Commissioner Heberling). The motion carried.
The board also approved purchase of vehicle equipment to outfit two 2026 Chevrolet Tahoe police-package vehicles from Arrowhead Outfitters, Inc., at $18,788 per vehicle (total not to exceed $37,576), funded from Uniform Services vehicle equipment (moved by Commissioner Sarkella; seconded by Commissioner John Moody). The motion carried.
Finally, the board adopted the 2026 Equalization Report, reporting a total equalized value of $4,580,000,176, and authorized the Equalization Director to make any amendments needed before submission to the State Tax Commission (moved by Commissioner Sarkella; seconded by Commissioner Ballard). The motion carried.
Several of the approvals were explicitly funded from restricted sources noted in the motions: the EMPG agreement, the 9-1-1 millage for mass notification, the Multi-County Material Management Grant for recycling baskets, County Land Bank and State Land Bank Grant reimbursement for the demolition, and Uniform Services equipment funds for sheriff vehicle outfitting. Most motions were recorded as "Motion carried" in the minutes; the resolution honoring Patty Ulfig (a separate agenda item) was adopted by roll call (see separate article).
The board adjourned at 1:52 p.m.
