Summary
Staff told the Planning Commission that food cart pods are on the docket this year; multi-cart pods are currently allowed only in Basalt Creek, and staff will take the topic to a council work session (the 27th) before returning to the commission with draft code changes.
City planning staff told the Planning Commission on April 15 that food cart pods are being evaluated and will be the subject of upcoming council and commission work sessions.
Staff member Lindsay said the topic will go to a council work session on the 27th of the month and that the commission will later see draft code language. "We're gonna try to come up with something to keep pace with all of the surrounding jurisdictions that allow [pods] already," Lindsay said.
Commissioners asked where multi-cart pods would be allowed under current rules. Staff said that, under the present code, multiple carts in a pod are permitted in Basalt Creek, while in other zones the code permits only one cart per site; temporary, multi-cart setups can occur through special-event permits. Commissioners and staff discussed limits on city-owned properties and park sites and noted that the matter will require additional research and code drafting.
Staff committed to gather information from surrounding communities and return with proposals for a future work session with the commission and council.
