The Clanton City Council on Feb. 23 adopted three unanimous resolutions affecting city rights-of-way, police staffing and a transit lease.
Councilmember Billy Singleton moved to adopt Resolution 2026-02-23-01 to vacate a portion of Hannah Street between Littlejohn Road and 4th Avenue North; Councilmember Awlahjaday Agee seconded and the motion passed by unanimous voice vote of the councilmembers present. The council did not record additional conditions or restrictions as part of the action.
Councilmember Don Driver then moved to adopt Resolution 2026-02-23-02, approving a new School Resource Officer job description in the Police Department; Councilmember Billy Singleton seconded and the resolution passed unanimously. The measure establishes the SRO position's job description for future posting or assignment, but the council did not specify hiring timelines or funding sources during the meeting.
The council also adopted Resolution 2026-02-23-03, authorizing a month-to-month lease renewal with the Chilton Transit Authority. Councilmember Awlahjaday Agee moved the lease renewal; Councilmember Singleton seconded. The resolution renews the existing arrangement on a month-to-month basis; the council did not discuss any changes to rent, term length beyond month-to-month status, or related funding during the meeting.
All three resolutions passed by unanimous voice vote of councilmembers present. The meeting minutes record the mayor declared each motion passed. None of the three items included recorded roll-call vote tallies or amendments; each was adopted as presented. The council moved on to first readings of two ordinances, which will return for consideration at a future meeting.
