Commission approves $3.75 million transfer to complete Cheatham County jail renovation

Cheatham County commissioners on Feb. 23 approved a $3,750,594 transfer from County General Fund balance and reserve accounts into the Other Capital Projects—Jail Fund to complete renovation work on the old county jail.

The motion, made by Chris Gilmore and seconded by Mike Breedlove, passed by roll call vote 9‑2 with Commissioners Randy Noe and James Hedgepath voting no and one commissioner absent. The transfer pools County General fund balance, the prisoner boarding reserve and unused Jailer salaries reserve to cover the project costs, which were described in the meeting packet as the final funding needed to complete renovations.
