Katy City Council used the April 13 meeting to recognize several causes, approve routine capital contracts and adopt a budget amendment tied to an approved project.
Proclamations — Council read and adopted proclamations designating April 2026 as sexual assault awareness and child abuse prevention month (and Denim Day on April 29), April 2026 as Autism Acceptance Month, April 18, 2026 as National Public Safety Telecommunicator Week and April 22, 2026 as Administrative Professionals Day. Council thanked local groups such as Katy Christian Ministries Crisis Center and recognized local students and staff participating in autism awareness activities.
Resolutions and contracts — The council approved change order No. 1 for the Katy City Hall clock tower with Western Specialty Contractors adding $6,830 (new total $43,042) for maintenance and repairs. It approved a job estimate with Remedy Roofing for a roof replacement at 903 Avenue D (bid $14,876; total project $17,107.40). The council also authorized consulting services agreements related to the Fire Department’s ISO rating survey and a professional services agreement for the Fire Chief selection process. The consent agenda passed as presented.
Budget — Council adopted Amendment No. 5 to the 2025–26 budget to account for general fund reserve use related to an approved project (item 7C). The amendment was approved by motion and second and recorded as carried.
