Eddie Owen of Red Clay Theatre told the Downtown Development Authority on April 21 that the venue had 18 shows in March drawing 1,680 attendees and reported cumulative totals "to date" of 2,309 shows and 269,352 attendees. He also said renovations at Red Clay have begun.
Owen emphasized that the theatre remains open during work and that construction is being coordinated around scheduled programming to minimize disruption. Director of Economic Development Chris McGahee confirmed that renovations have started and are being scheduled to accommodate regular shows and events.
The minutes do not include a construction schedule, cost estimates or an anticipated completion date. Authority members heard the update during the Unfinished Business portion of the agenda; no formal action or vote on the renovation work is recorded in the minutes.
