Cedar Park library wins state recognition and outlines spring programs

Julia Michky, director of the Cedar Park Public Library, updated the council on spring programming and announced that the library earned a 2025 ‘‘achievement of library excellence’’ award, placing the library in roughly the top 20% of public libraries in Texas. Michky said the library’s success reflects strengths in cultural and educational programming, services for underserved populations, digital inclusion, and early literacy.
Michky highlighted partnerships with Leander ISD for augmentative communication story times, Hill Country Community Ministries for support services, and medical and county partners for early literacy workshops. She said the library hosted about 1,000 programs in 2025 with roughly 52,000 program attendees — including more than 27,000 people at story time events — and noted makerspace expansions and new world‑language materials.
The council praised library staff and asked staff to share program calendars online. Michky invited council members to take a photo with staff after the presentation.
