The Gurdon School District board approved renewal of curriculum subscriptions — including Amplify for K–4 ELA and other digital programs — and accepted the district's audit and testing update.
Curriculum staff said the recommended subscriptions involve no program changes but save the district $4,964.24 compared with the prior year. "No programs have changed...and we're still working to provide support," the curriculum Presenter said, describing how digital licenses provide teachers with planning guides and differentiated resources. The board voted to approve the curriculum purchases collectively.
On finance and oversight, staff reported the district received an unmodified audit opinion, the best outcome for an audit, and recommended continuing to seek a management letter that would highlight potential improvements. "We have a unmodified opinion. That is the best you can get," the auditor/staff said during the audit review.
During the director's report, staff said K–2 testing is winding down, additional tests for grades 3–6 will follow, and some assessments require hand scoring; the district expects preliminary data now and final windows to close in mid-May. Staff also noted state timelines for letter grades have shifted from July to August or September.
The board also approved a small student travel request for two students in Beta Club to attend nationals in Nashville to present at the event.
