Fox River Grove — Trustees recommended approval on May 17 of zoning case 2022-02, a variance request to permit a 704-square-foot accessory garage at 1005 Algonquin Road and to reduce a front-yard setback to 40 feet.
Property owner Kevin Mitchell told the board he revised his proposal to locate the garage in the rear yard to better align with village ordinance. He requested relief to exceed the 576-square-foot accessory-structure limit by 128 square feet and to reduce the required 60-foot measurement from the front lot line to 40 feet due to the parcel configuration.
Trustee Steve Knar moved to recommend approval of the revised variance; Trustee Melissa Schladt seconded. A voice vote was taken and all trustees present voted in favor.
The recommendation advances the variance to the formal board/zoning process for final action; any building-permit approvals will require compliance with village permitting and inspection processes.
