Del Rio council postpones decision on formal Rules of Order until July

The City Attorney asked the City Council whether it wished to adopt formal Rules of Order and whether the council preferred the proposed rules as drafted or with modifications. Because the city is in an election period, Mayor Alvaro Arreola suggested postponing consideration until after the elections. Councilman James DeReus said he preferred adopting rules now to promote consistency and allow future councils to amend them if needed. Councilman Jesus Lopez Jr. recommended postponing to July, citing continuing education opportunities at Texas Municipal League conferences. Mayor Arreola concluded by stating he would set July as the date for further consideration.
