Contractor breaks ground on Kansas/Los Doritos drainage project; work to continue months
City staff reported on Nov. 18 that the contractor has begun work on the Kansas/Los Doritos drainage project (East Aguasadero Street), excavation at the park is ~50% complete, and the project is expected to continue roughly three to four months; staff said the project will remove hundreds of homes from local floodplains.

WESLACO, Texas —Nov. 18, 2025 —City engineers told the Weslaco City Commission on Tuesday that contractors have started excavation on the Kansas/Los Doritos drainage project and outlined access, scheduling and expected benefits.
