TAC recommends FY2025 Unified Planning Work Program to CCRPC Board

The Chittenden County Transportation Advisory Committee on May 7 unanimously recommended the FY2025 Unified Planning Work Program (UPWP) to the Chittenden County Regional Planning Commission (CCRPC) Board. Lisa Schaeffler moved to recommend approval and Phillip Peterson seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
The UPWP, required for metropolitan planning organizations, outlines the region’s transportation planning priorities and staff work program for FY2025. Marshall Distel, CCRPC senior transportation planner, reviewed the UPWP process, the role of the UPWP Committee of stakeholders and the status of projects proposed for the coming year.
Why it matters: the UPWP frames how federal and state planning funds are allocated and sets priorities for studies, data collection and technical assistance that municipalities will use when pursuing capital funding. The CCRPC Board has scheduled a public hearing on the draft FY25 UPWP for May 15, 2024.
The committee’s formal action will now move to the CCRPC Board for final consideration and any additional public input. Earlier in April the Board accepted a VTrans carbon reduction target and formally warned the UPWP public hearing, steps that run in parallel with the TAC recommendation.
